President Hassan Rouhani described his visit to Iraq a turning point in Tehran-Baghdad relations, hoping that decisions made during the trip would be beneficial for both nations.
Upon arrival in Mehrabad Airport late on Wednesday, he added, “During the visit, I almost visited all the Iraqi officials and discussed major issues with them.'
During the meetings, the Treaty 1975 and dredging of Arvand Rud and easy visa procedure were discussed, he said.
“We discussed cooperation on reducing trade tariffs as well as establishment of industrial townships on the borders,” he said, noting that very good agreements were concluded in the fields of energy, electricity, oil and gas.
Noting that Iraq is Iran’s first export center in the world, Rouhani said that the two countries have close trade interactions and they are ready for easing issuance of trade visas.
Referring to signing of five cooperation deals between the two countries during his visit to the country, he said that the Iraqi officials are interested to broaden ties with Iran.
