West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Friday reiterated that there is no place for goons in Bengal.
Addressing a workers’ meeting here in North 24 parganas district, Ms Banerjee urged Trinamool workers to carry the flag of the party with pride and march on.
“Outsiders are instigating the doctors. I had rightly said that they were involved in yesterday’s protest. I had seen some outsiders raising slogans at SSKM hospital,” she said.
The chief minister accused the BJP of “targeting the Bengalis and the minorities”.
The TMC supremo alleged the BJP was trying to create an atmosphere of communal tension by spreading the venom of religious fundamentalism.
Alleging that EVMs in the recently held Lok Sabha elections were “programmed”, Ms Banerjee also said ballot papers should be brought back for conducting polls.
She said the main agenda of this year’s July 21 Shahid Dibas rally would be ‘No EVM, bring back ballots’.
“Just because they (BJP) won a few seats by programming the EVMs, it doesn’t mean that they can beat up Bengalis and minorities. We will not tolerate this,” the chief minister said.
“The police will take action against the hooligans. If someone is living in Bengal, he or she has to learn Bengali,” the TMC supremo said.
She also slammed the BJP for “instigating” post-poll violence in the State.
Ms Banerjee alleged that they were trying to create differences between Rajbongshis and Bengalis, Gorkhas and Bengalis, and were also instigating Biharis and people from UP who live in the State.
