Mirzapur, Jul 20 : Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, who was stopped in Mirzapur while on her way to Sonbhadra, ended her 26 hour 'dharna' on Saturday.
The district administration of Mirzapur allowed the families of those affected in the Sonbhadra violence to meet Ms Vadra and after meeting the kin of the victims, the Congress leader announced the end of her 'dharna.'
Following her meeting with the victims' families and conversation with the mediapersons, Varanasi Commissioner and ADG talked to Ms Vadra at the Guest House after which her 'dharna' ended.
Ms Priyanka said, "My aim has been fulfilled. I had to meet the victim families, I met them and asked about their well-being."
Ms Vadra reiterated her commitment to struggle so that the five-point demand of the victims are met by the state government.
In view of Ms Vadra's unrelenting stand, the Mirzapur district administration called the women of the four victim families affected in the Sonbhadra firing at the Chunar guest house and all of them met the Congress General Secretary.
Priyanka Gandhi consoled the grieving and teary-eyed relatives of the victim families and said from its end, the Congress will aid the victims of the violence. She said the families of the deceased will be given Rs 10 lakh each while the injured will also be provided with assistance money.
However, the families of other victims from Ghorawal's Umbha village could not come here.
Ms Priyanka laid out the five-point demands in front of the state government which included a compensatory amount of Rs 25 lakhs, registering the land in their name, taking back the false cases against the tribals and providing security to those affected.
After meeting 15 women and male family members of the victims's families affected by the violence in Sonbhadra, Priyanka talked to mediapersons wherein she said, "The law and order state in Uttar Pradesh is in shambles. Yogi government should take responsibility for this. The officials knew about the Sonbhadra case from before, such an incident should not have occurred there."
Ms Vadra said, "Congress will fight for the rights of the tribals." Further she said that in future, she will also visit the Umbha village where the whole case unfolded.
During Priyanka's address to the media, Ram Raj, Sukhwanti and Ram Dhani, family members of those affected, also talked to mediapersons and said they were being exploited since a long time. They said fire was opened on them and the people who fell after being injured were then attacked and beaten with sticks.
After she met with the kin of the victims, Ms Vadra attacked the Yogi government and tweeted asking whether it was a crime to wipe their tears.
