Lucknow, Jul 20 : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Saturday said to camouflage its failure in handling the 'worsening' law and order situation in the state, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is not allowing anyone to go to Sonbhadra in the garb of Section 144.
In a tweet, Ms Mayawati said, "The UP government is not allowing anyone to visit Sonbhadra on the pretext of Section 144, to hide its failures vis-a-vis the security of people and public welfare. Yet, the BSP Legislature Party has been directed to provide every possible assistance to the victims. Government negligence is the major reason behind this attack."
The BSP supremo said that the Congress, which was earlier in power at the Centre, and now the Bharatiya Janata Party government, was responsible for the continuing victimisation of the tribal people in the country. Any party which stays out of power sheds crocodile tears whenever tribal people are exploited.
In another tweet, the former UP chief minister said, "The harassment and exploitation of the tribal people in UP's Sonbhadra continues. They being evicted from their land and the violence upon them is the proof of state BJP government's failure on the law and order front. Not only UP, but the people of the country are extremely perturbed about this whereas, in the BSP government, special attention was also paid towards the interests of the ST community."
