Unity in diversity and mutual harmony comprise India’s true strengths and shall safeguard the country’s future, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath averred on Tuesday.
“This state’s new destiny is being penned so that the youth receive superior quality education and employment. I call upon the young generation to appreciate global transformation so that we keep pace,” he was officially quoted as saying while addressing the Yuva Sankalp Varsh 2019-20 event organised at the city-based Ravindra Bhavan by the Higher Education Department to mark the 75th birth anniversary of erstwhile premier Rajiv Gandhi.
Underlining that harmony has been the hallmark of Indian history, civilisation and culture from the times of Emperor Ashoka; the Chief Minister added that Mr Gandhi nourished that legacy therefore his birth anniversary is celebrated as Sadbhavna Diwas.
“Mr Gandhi was a leader who provided the country right direction and vision. He perceived changes occurring around the world and took radical decisions to help India emerge stronger. Our enviable achievements in the communications sphere are attributable to him. Today, the country’s software professionals are working in reputed multinational corporations, scripting glorious success stories and earning respect. At the juncture when Mr Gandhi was spearheading the Information Technology revolution, he was vehemently opposed by vision-deficient and self-centred people who were apprehensive of job cuts owing to the advent of computerisation. But Mr Rajiv went forward and the results are quite visible. Millions benefitted by work opportunities. Those who were protesting against this technology are taking the credit for Digital India. At the time when Mr Gandhi assumed the reins, the country was confronting severe challenges but he overcame the same and was loved by the citizenry,” Mr Nath recalled.
Asking the youth to appreciate India’s greatness, he added that it is here that pluralism is most respected and it is making people live in harmony. Providing the example of the Soviet Union, which witnessed disintegration despite being a mighty power, the Chief Minister said that our real prowess is the spirit of consonance.
“Despite numerous dares including the gravest one of unemployment, systematic measures are being taken to address them. My dispensation comprehends your aspirations, dreams and vision,” he assured.
Mr Nath inaugurated the Smriti Chitra exhibition focussing on Mr Gandhi on whose life a brief film was also screened. Artiste Shankar Rajput presented a portrait to the Chief Minister who released a book authored by Mr Jagdish Piyush and another one on the Sankalp Diwas logo. He interacted with pupils and responded to queries on a number of issues ranging from career, jobs, development and expectations.
