Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the Rajbhasha Hindi will attain a new height by the time the 2024 general elections are held .
Speaking at the Hindi Diwas function , organised by the Union Home Ministry, Mr Shah said that the Government will promote use of Rajbhasha (Hindi) to all fields including judiciary, medicine and medical science.
At the same time, he said promoting Hindi did not mean the Government would sideline other languages.
"Promoting Hindi does not that other languages will be sidelined or given less importance because Hindi always live, developed in co-existence with other languages",he said at the function held held at Vigyan Bhawan.
“Emphasizing on Hindi, giving impetus and taking its literature to newer heights are our national responsibility. And the celebration of Hindi Divas should not be confined to these auditoriums but it should be organised like public functions outside at public places and from next year this function will be organised for a week”, he further added,
Sharing his experience from North East states ,the Minister said that he was told during his recent visit there that nowadays Hindi teachers are being engaged by the local parents there to teach Hindi to their children.
"Seeing the quest for learning Hindi by North East people, we have decided to appoint Hindi teachers in all schools in North East States so that they learn and speak Hindi ",the Minister said.
Remembering the contributions of freedom fighters for Hindi as Rajbhasha, he said Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel and many leaders of freedom struggle helped Hindi grow in various ways.
“Congress Adhiveshan ne bhi Hindi ko aage badane me kafi yogdaan diya hai”,(The Congress Sessions had also contributed a lot in growing the Hindi language), the Home Minister said.
Underlining the importance of Rajbhasha Hindi, Mr Shah said that the Constituent Assembly finally decided to adopt Hindi as Rajbhasha despite the fact that the there were 122 languages and over 19,500 dialects.
Exhorting the youths of this generation to understand the importance of Rajbhasha, he said that the youths must have an urge for our Rajbhasha and they should be proud of our languages. He also mentioned that in 1977, former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, for the first time, addressed the UN session in Hindi as the External Affairs Minister.
Mr Shah said that the former External Affairs Minister and BJP leader late Sushma Swaraj had contributed a lot for Rajbhasha and due to her efforts, the UN started Hindi bulletins and tweet handle in Hindi too.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi , he said that he always addresses the meetings at international forums in Hindi.
'In fact, he is the first and only head of nation who addressed the Davos Economic Forum in Hindi,'he said.

Both Ministers for States for Home Affairs Mr Nityanad Ray and G Kishan Reddy also addressed the gathering and congratulated everyone on Hindi Diwas.
The Ministers gave awards to various categories for promoting Hindi and Rajbhasha.
