Haridwar, January 13: Taking a big action, Uttarakhand Police has arrested Waseem Rizvi. Police has arrested Waseem Rizvi alias Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi from Narsan Border for giving inflammatory speech in Haridwar Dharma Sansad. According to the information, after arresting him, the police has taken him to Haridwar Kotwali.
On the arrest of Wasim Rizvi, Haridwar SP City Swatantra Kumar said that Uttarakhand Police has arrested Waseem Rizvi alias Jitendra Tyagi from Narsan Border Roorkee in Haridwar ‘Dharma Sansad’ in the Hate SPeat case. A day earlier i.e. on January 12, the matter was also heard in the Supreme Court, in which the court had issued a notice to the state government and sought its response.
The police have taken this action in connection with the provocative speech in the Parliament of Religions held from 17 to 19 December at Ved Niketan, Kharkhari. A case was registered against Jitendra Narayan Tyagi alias Waseem Rizvi and others after the video of Haridwar Dharma Sansad went viral on social media. In fact, after the video went viral on the internet, Gulbahar Khan, a resident of Jwalapur, Haridwar Kotwali, has filed a case against Jitendra Narayan Tyagi alias Waseem Rizvi, former chairman of Shia Waqf Board of UP. At the same time, the names of 4 saints were also added in the trial later.

An objectionable statement was made against a particular community in the viral video, after which a case was registered against Waseem Rizvi on 23 December. After this the names of Sant Dharmadas, Sadhvi Annapurna Bharati, Swami Yeti Narasimhananda and Sagar Sindhu Maharaj were also recorded. A SIT has also been constituted to probe the matter.
