Subject: Request for Immediate Action against Waseem Rizvi, for misusing his official position as Chairman of Shia Central Waqf Board, Lucknow to fabricate baseless allegations against me in his letter dated 8.6.2017, on his official letter-head, to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Delhi, linking me to foreign terrorist organizations for promoting enmity against other religions in the country.
The is to bring to your notice that Waseem Rizvi, Chairman of Shia Central Waqf Board has written a letter dated 8.6.2017, using his official position, on his official letter-head of the UP Shia Central Waqf Board to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Delhi, fabricating baseless allegations against me as under:
1. That I have links with terrorist organizations of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Pakistan in India.
2. That I receive funds from abroad to misguide the youth to create enmity against other religions.
3. That I never condemn or protest against the terror acts carried out in our country.
It is ridiculous that the Minister of Minority Affairs, Government of India, has taken cognizance of a frivolous complaint from a person against whose corrupt dealings, it itself ordered an enquiry through the Central Waqf Council, which in its 36-page report recommended a CBI investigation into corruption in the UP Shia Waqf Board.
I thoroughly refute and take strong objection to these baseless allegations questioning my nationalism, by linking me to foreign terrorist organizations and accusing me of inciting hatred against other religious denominations in the country, which have been made with the malicious intention to malign my reputation and misinform the government; and therefore request you to take immediate action against Waseem Rizvi under relevant sections of the IPC. Since these baseless allegations have been made on the official letterhead, it purports to be an official complaint by the Chairman of a constitutional body, under the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
It is well known that I have held protests, rallies and press conferences against all kinds of terror acts in India and abroad, which are widely covered by the print and electronic media, the latest one being the attack on the innocent Amarnath pilgrims.
I have also for the past two decades been raising my voice against the illegal sale of Waqf properties across the state and the corrupt dealings of the Chairman of the UP Shia Central Waqf Board, as a result of which the CB-CID had registered six FIRs against him and fresh FIRs have been also been lodged against him in Lucknow, Bareilly and Meerut under the present BJP Government. Based on the recommendation of the Central Waqf Council Report on corruption in the UP Shia Waqf Board by its Chairman, Waseem Rizvi and Azam Khan, Cabinet Minister in the earlier Samajwadi Government, the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath has recently ordered a CBI enquiry.
Despite the multiple FIRs, charge-sheets and enquiry reports Waseem Rizvi no action has been taken against him till date and he continues to use his political and administrative connections, as he was doing under the earlier Samajwadi Government, to evade arrest.
You are requested take necessary action against Waseem Rizvi, for misusing his official position and letter-head to fabricate baseless allegations against me as above. Copy of his letter dated 8.6.2017 to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Delhi, is attached herewith.
