Speaker of parliament Ali Larijani says diplomacy and using domestic capacities are part of the mechanism to counter the US' sanctions against Iran.
In a meeting with the governors of the western part of the country, Larijani said the United States sought to put more pressure on Iran to sabotage internal conditions, but to no avail.
He noted that ongoing conditions in the country are 'sensitive and unique' after the Islamic Revolution, adding that sanctions somewhat influenced the economic performance of the country in terms of exports and investment and 'we have to admit that we must use various mechanisms to reduce the pressures.'
He noted, 'What Americans were pursuing was that Iran would come up with a strange pressure to crush domestic conditions, but failed, including the slogan of zeroing oil sales of Iran that could not be achieved.'
Speaker of parliament went on to say, 'If we are to design mechanisms in the country in order that these potentials be activated, to encourage and facilitate private investment and to remove centralized powers given to the provinces, so as to transform the situation, while using diplomacy.'
