New Delhi, Nov 9: Charging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA government for destroying the economy and burdening the downtrodden through demonetisation, Congress leaders and activists, led by senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, Anand Sharma, Mukul Wasnik , Bhupinder SIngh Hooda and Sushmita Dev, marched towards the Reserve Bank of India headquarters in the national capital.
However, the protestors were stopped by the police and many of them including the leaders courted arrest.
Addressing the protest, orgamised by the Indian Youth Congress here on the second anniversary of the demonetisation, the Congress leaders called Note ban as a ‘failed move’ , who’s consequences were suffered by the commoners.
Addressing the protest , senior COngrees leader Ashok Gehlot called the note ban an-‘unplanned ,ill executed move’ and said ,’ there is proper procedure of implementing such a decision and several systematic steps need to be taken’, but it was just announced.
Government can’t just announce such a decision this way like a ‘ Tughlaki Farman’ (a dictatorial order),’Gehlot said.
He accused PM Modi of running the country like a dictator which is not only affecting the atmosphere but has hit the value of the rupee.
‘There is rise in price of necessary goods such as fuel etc ,’ said Mr Gehlot.
‘ Country is heading towards path of destruction as all the institutions , such as Judiciary, CVC, EC and others that are foundations of the country have been shaken’, said the senior Congress leader , further questioning that ‘ why was PM after these and destrying them ?’
