Imam Jaafar as-Sadiq (ع) was born in Medina on the 17th Rabi-ul-Awal, 83 years after Hijrah (702 AD). His father was Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (ع). His mother (Umma Farwa (ع)) was the Enkeltochter of Mohammad Ibn e Abu Bakr, who was a friend of Imam Ali (ع). Imam Jaafar as-Sadiq (ع) was 34 years old when his father Muhammad al-Baqir (ع) was killed and he became Imam due to Allah’s command. His imamate was supposed to last 34 years (114 – 148 nH). During his imamate he had to deal with five caliphs, one after another: Hisham ibn Abdalmalik, Walid ibn Walid, Marwan Himar (all from the Umayyad dynasty), Saffah, and ultimately Mansoor Dawaniqi (these two belong to the Abbasid Dynasty).
He lived in the period of the reign of Bani Umayyah, who had greatly dwindled in his time and feared a loss of power. The Bani Umayyah concentrated mainly on the Muswaddah uprising and tried to sabotage this revolt with all their might. Imam Jaafar as-Sadiq (ع) was therefore able to teach his students in peace without being persecuted or imprisoned. The Ummayadan had been greatly weakened by the uprising of the Muswaddah. Imam Jaafar as-Sadiq (a) took the opportunity to spread the true faith and to discuss with people from all sorts of social strata. Hundreds of books were written about his lectures, scientific treatises, his words and wisdom. There is, therefore, the greatest number of traditions in the Shiite sources about Imam Jaafar as-Sadiq (a) and his father (a). The number of scientists and scholars trained by him amounts to more than four thousand. They came from all countries to study with him. He taught various fields such as:
Zurara and Mohammad Bin Muslim in jurisprudence
Hisham and Momin ut Taq in faith and discourse
Muffazil and Safwan in Gnosticism and Islam
Jabir Bin Hayyan in Mathematics and Sciences.
But also one of the founders of the five law schools, Imam Abu Hanife, was a student of him. He studied with him for two years. One of his most famous sayings about Imam Sadiq (ع) was: “If I had not been with Imam Sadiq for two years, I would have been lost.” Likewise Imam Shafii belonged to his pupils. He even wrote a poem out of love for Ahl-ul-Bayt (as). Imam Jaafar as-Sadiq (ع) always instructed his students to record his lectures and lectures as he knew that there would be a time when riots and confusion would prevail. Therefore, the Shi’ite doctrine of faith is also called the “Javatarian”.
The Conflict of the Imam (ع) with the Caliph Mansoor
Toward the end of the life of the Imam (a), the persecutions increased again. The Shiites were thrown in groups and thrown into groups. Others were buried alive or walled between building walls. After the Caliph Mansoor murdered some family members of the Bani Hashim, he sent a man named “Sheba” as ruler to Madina to supervise the Imam. The caliph had underestimated the influence of the imam too long. Sheba came to the Friday prayer and polluted the Prophet (ص) and his family (Ahlul Bayt) (ع) with his speeches. Imam Sadiq (ع) did not listen to the evil speeches for a long time and said, “Do you know who will be the biggest loser on the day of judgment? The one who sells the possessions of others on the Day of Judgment, and he is a corrupt ruler! “Of course, Mansoor did not like the Imam’s honesty and so he decided that he could not make a friend to poison him. He had him taken to Samarrah to control his activities better. In his old age, Imam Jaafar as-Sadiq (a) was allowed to return to Medina, where he was poisoned at Mansoor’s command at the age of 65. This happened on the 25th Shawwal, 148 Hijrah (765 AD). When Mansoor heard the message of the Imam’s death, he ordered the governor of Medina to study the imam of Imam Jaafar as-Sadiq (a) to immediately kill his successor. Mansoor wanted to extinguish the Imamat once and for all. But his plan failed because Imam Sadiq knew about these plans before his death, and so he decided in his will to be four successors: The Caliph Mansoor, governor of Medina, his eldest son and his youngest son (Imam Musa Kazim) (ع). Imam Jaafar as-Sadiq (as) had once again defeated the caliph Mansoor and ruined his powerful plans. His holy body was buried in Medina.
The Piety Imam Sadiqs (ع)
Malik bin Ans said, “Imam as-Sadiq was always busy with the prayer to Allah and regarded it as the greatest devotion.”
Abdul Ala said, “I saw Imam Sadiq on a hot summer day on a street in Medina while he was on the way to a job. I said, “I would give my life for you, why have you, who is a prophet, and who is so close to Allah, in such a hot weather?” He said, “I came around mine Livelihood so I do not depend on others. ”
The reproaches of a blind man
One day a pious-looking stranger, whose name was Sufian, stopped Imam Sadiq (A) and said, “You descended from the Prophet, how can it be that you wear such splendid clothes?” Imam Sadiq (ع) Said, “Oh Sufian, see under this clothing I wear a torn shirt, but I put this dress over it, so those who do not see me believe I am needy.”
The next day, Sufian saw the Imam working hard on a field and noticed how strong he sweated. He went to him and said, “I am amazed at you. Why are you so greedy about this world and work and sweat at your age? “Imam Sadiq said:” How happy I would be if I met my master while I worked hard and earned my own income without relying on others to be.”
God does not ask for anything that he can not do!
Imam Sadiq (ع) visited one of his friends and asked him how he was doing and what he was doing. The man replied, “My hands are tied. I see how people are plagued and struggling and have nothing I can give them to help them! There is no way I can get them out of their difficulties. What remains to me is to talk to them and to console them with what God has promised to the beneficent. I tell them about the simple humble life of the Prophets (ص) and Imam (ع) and the problems and hardships with which they had to struggle. When I remember them, they feel comforted, and I can call them to the good and the right to which you teach us! I can not do anything else for them, there is no more to me! “The Imam (a) replied,” This is very good, What you do! God does not ask for anything that he can not do! Do you think that talking to people is worthless and void, even though the capital of the prophets, wise men and friends of God consisted in their speeches and sermons? No one sent His Messenger God with a sack full of gold and silver to the people to make these timuleiten. Their precious good, which they used to do, was their heartfelt speeches, their good, true words. And even better than this: God Himself has presented Himself through His Word to man, by means of justifications, proofs, and instructions which He brought up! – A good speech, a true word is precious! Know its value and thank God for it. This is more correct than complaining about what you do not have! ” Do you think that talking to people is worthless and void, even though the capital of the prophets, wise men and friends of God consisted in their speeches and sermons? False piety
Imam as-Sadiq (ع) inquired among his friends about a man’s condition. They said, “He is needy and needs support!” The Imam asked, “What is he doing?”
She: “He sits at home and prays to God!” Then Imam Sadiq: “Who cares for his support?” “One of his brothers takes care of him!” “By God,” said the Imam Who works and feeds him is better than the one who sits at home and prays! ”
The unknown donor
Abu Gafar Hatami reported: “One day Imam Sadiq (a) handed me a bag of money and said,” Bring this money “sound so”. Do not tell me who it is! “I did as he had told me. When I gave the money to that man, he said, “May God reward the man who sends me this money! He regularly gives me money, so I can live with it. But you know, Hazrat Jaafar as-Sadiq has never given me even a drachma, though he could! ”
Some sayings of the Imam

Someone who is wrong and deceives you like a mirage,

A coward who lets you down in danger,
A wicked sinner who sells you for a piece of bread. “
