One person was detained from Pune in connection with a death threat given to Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut using the name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The person will also be interrogated related to the threat message to actor Salman Khan, the Mumbai Police said.
Raut allegedly received the threat via text messages and a call, claiming that he will be shot with an AK-47 rifle if he is spotted in New Delhi. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader had filed a complaint in this regard.
“I have intimated the police about the threat call, but do not think any action would be taken. I received the call last night. Whenever I inform the government and home minister about such threats they mock me saying it's a stunt. The government is busy sponsoring riots, hooliganism and terror,” Raut told reporters.
Confirming the development, a police officer, “Sanjay Raut received death threats stating that he will meet Sidhu Moose Wala's fate. He got the threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The message said that if you met in Delhi, will kill you with an AK-47. He wrote a letter to the police complaining about the matter.”
Earlier, Salman Khan had allegedly received a threat call from the Bishnoi gang claiming that the actor will “end up like Sidhu Moose Wala”. The accused, Dhakad Ram, a resident of Luni in the Jodhpur district of Rajasthan, was arrested and handed over to the Mumbai Police.
