A clash between two communities has once again been reported in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon. The incident occurred in Paladhi village, the hometown of Mahayuti government minister and Shiv Sena leader Gulabrao Patil. The dispute between two groups escalated into arson, forcing the deployment of heavy police force.
However, the situation is now under control. As a precautionary measure, a curfew has been imposed in the area until 6 am tomorrow.
The incident unfolded when Minister Gulabrao Patil's wife was travelling in her car through Paladhi village. A man from the village was allegedly hit by the car, and a crowd quickly gathered at the scene.
The mob assaulted the driver of the car carrying Gulabrao Patil's wife and vandalised the vehicle. This incident took place around 11 pm on Tuesday (December 31). The situation further deteriorated as the crowd began pelting stones and setting fires. More than a dozen shops were set ablaze, and six vehicles were torched.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police Kavita Nerkar, “The situation is now under control, but curfew has been imposed in Jalgaon’s Paladhi until 6 am tomorrow as a precautionary measure. Police have detained several suspects overnight and registered a case against 20-25 unidentified individuals at the Paladhi police station.”
The police have appealed to the public to maintain peace in the village and avoid believing or spreading rumours.
