Sharing more details about Operation Sindoor, Ministry of External Affairs accompanied by Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh on Thursday reiterated that India met Pakistani aggression with equal response on the night of 7-8 May. The contingent went on to add that India's initial response on May 6 was non-escalatory and measured in nature.
The Indian Armed Forces this morning targeted air defence radars and systems at multiple locations inside Pakistan, after Islamabad launched a barrage of missiles and drones directed towards important military facilities in India. One of the significant targets, New Delhi targeted this morning was — an air defence system positioned in Lahore.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, during the presser said that Pakistan has increased the intensity of its unprovoked firing across the Line of Control using Mortars and heavy calibre Artillery in areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir. "16 innocent lives have been lost, including three women and five children, due to Pakistani firing. India was compelled to respond to bring Mortar and Artillery fire from Pakistan to a halt. Indian Armed Forces reiterate their commitment to non-escalation, provided it is respected by the Pakistani military," she added.
Additionally, Foreign secretary Vikram Misri added that the offensive against Indian began with Pahalgam terror attack and India's Operation Sindoor was a retaliation. One common thread throughout the presser was-- Pakistan is unilaterally involved in escalation, whereas India is only responding to the escalation.
