Israel intentionally kills journalists in Gaza: UN rights rapporteur

Tehran: United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, says Israel intentionally kills journalists in Gaza to prevent real-time professional reporting on its crimes.
In a post on her X account on Wednesday, Albanese wrote, “Israel intentionally kills journalists in Gaza so as to prevent real-time professional reporting on its crimes; 200 murdered since Oct-2023.”
She added, “Shame on the media who stay silent instead of standing for truth, solidarity, press access.”
Albanese has published this message in response to a tweet calling on international journalists to sign a petition titled “Freedom To Report.”
Also, in a statement, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate denounced Israel’s targeting of journalists as “an intentional effort to conceal the truth and obscure crimes against the Palestinian people".
The Israeli regime continues to kill Palestinians in Gaza since October 7, 2023, while the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former war minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
More than 61,599 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed across the Gaza Strip since the war began.
