Tehran: The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that over two years of war in the Gaza Strip have led to 90% of homes being damaged or destroyed.
Tess Ingram, the Communications Manager at UNICEF in Gaza, said on Wednesday that nine out of 10 homes in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed or damaged; in other words, 90% of the buildings in the Gaza Strip have been either destroyed or damaged.
Currently, the majority of people in Gaza are living in homes without walls or are homeless, residing in tents.
Following a ceasefire in Gaza, humanitarian organizations have started their operations, and aid is once again entering the territory, but they still face Israeli restrictions.
A report from the UN indicates that essential supplies, including medicine, food, water, and sanitary products, are running out. Hundreds of thousands of displaced families are currently living in overcrowded tents and facing dire humanitarian conditions.
Since October 7, 2023, when the Israeli regime launched a devastating war on Gaza, at least 67,938 people have been killed and 170,169 wounded in the besieged territory, with thousands more feared trapped under rubble.
The Israeli regime began the war against the Gaza Strip, with two main objectives of destroying the Hamas movement and retrieving the Israeli prisoners from the region, but it failed to achieve these goals and was forced to agree to a prisoner exchange as part of the ceasefire.
