Mamata seals Bengal sweep, likely to win over 200 seats

West Bengal (WB) Election Results 2021 Live Updates: Mamata Banerjee is likely to return as the Chief Minister for the third consecutive term with the TMC leading in over 200 seats. Speaking to party workers from her Kalighat residence, Banerjee said “this is Bengal’s victory”. She added, “All Covid protocols must be maintained. There will be no victory procession for now, a decision on that will be taken later.”
Kailash Vijayvargiya has credited Mamata Banerjee for the TMC’s astounding performance in Bengal elections, and said his party would introspect the poll results. Vijayvargiya, who is also the BJP’s Bengal minder, also said that he has received a call from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who enquired about the party’s poor show.
The battle between Adhikari and incumbent CM Mamata Banerjee in the Nandigram seat was one of the contests to watch out for. A decade ago, the protest against land acquisition in Nandigram was one of the key issues that had catapulted Banerjee to power in the state.
