BJP offered Rs 50 crore to 50 Congress MLAs to remove me: Siddaramaiah

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Wednesday, alleged that the Opposition BJP, to remove the Congress-led government in the state, offered Rs 50 crore each to 50 Congress MLAs.
The Chief Minister made the accusation in Mysuru during his address after he inaugurated a public works project worth Rs 470 crore in the T Narasipura assembly constituency.
According to Siddaramaiah, the BJP resorted to making false accusations against him and his government because its plan to buy off Congress MLAs didn’t succeed.
“This time around, the BJP tried to destabilise my government. BJP offered 50 crore to each MLA. (Rs) 50 crore for 50 MLAs. Where is this money coming from? Is BSY (BS Yediyurappa) and (Basavaraja) Bommai printing notes? Where’s the money from? It’s corrupt money and they’ve crores and they use this to buy MLAs at 50 crore (rupees). Our MLAs didn’t agree, hence they started to taint me and remove me.”
Siddaramaiah questioned the source of the money offered and said it was all “bribe money”.
The Chief Minister also named Leader of Opposition R Ashoka, BJP state president BY Vijayendra, asking whether they had some way to print cash to offer so much money to bribe Congress leaders.
The BJP and Congress are embroiled in a bitter battle of accusations and counter-accusations.
Most recently, the BJP pointed fingers at Congress for alleged appeasement politics by giving a four per cent quota to Muslims in government tenders.
The BJP also accused Congress-run government of corruption in Mysuru Urban Development Authority land allotment, Waqf land grabbing as well as collecting bribe from liquor merchants in the state.
Congress, on the other hand, was investigating misappropriation and embezzlement of Covid-19 funds during the BJP’s tenure.
