Both houses of Parliament have been adjourned till noon after members of opposition protested entering the well of the house against the intensive electoral roll revision in poll-bound Bihar. The protests come ahead much-anticipated marathon debate on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack.
After a week marked by opposition protests inside both houses, the Parliament convened again on Monday. The opposition has been protesting demanding discussion on Operation Sindoor, the Pahalgam terror attack, Bihar SIR among other issues in Parliament. Following a discussion in Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla's chamber, the Union government agreed for a discussion on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack in both houses of the Parliament.
While the Centre is likely to focus on success of Operation Sindoor, opposition will target the government over security and intelligence lapses that led to Pahalgam terror attack and US Donald Trump's claims of mediating ceasefire talks between India and Pakistan.
Earlier, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijuju told ANI, "It was the wish of the people of India that the PM decided to launch Operation Sindoor through the Indian Army. Today, the Lok Sabha will take up the discussion on the Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. I request the Opposition, especially the Congress, not to do anything to harm India's interests and not speak Pakistan's language. We have to be mindful."
The Union minister added, "We have to maintain the dignity of the Indian armed forces. The Congress and the Opposition should not speak anything that could harm the national interests. Whatever they speak against India is used by the Pakistanis and India's enemies outside."
