Saudi border troops have separately fired barrages of artillery rounds at two residential neighborhoods in Yemen’s northwestern province of Sa’ada, close to the border with the kingdom.
The Arabic-language al-Masirah television network, citing local sources speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that civilian structures and properties were damaged or destroyed on Saturday as the Saudi military struck the districts of Razih and Ghamr.
There were no immediate reports available about possible casualties.
The developments come as Saudi cross-border strikes have turned into a nearly daily occurrence, endangering the safety of local residents.
Observers note that these infractions are predominantly neglected on the global platform, with the United Nations offering minimal humanitarian or political attention.
UN agencies are said to have ceased providing relief assistance to the border communities that have been affected, which reflects a larger compliance with pressures from the United States.
Although Yemen has shown a commitment to de-escalation and has aimed its deterrence at the Israeli regime, Saudi offensives persist without interruption, disregarding the Sana’a government’s self-restraint.
Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with its Arab allies and with arms and logistics support from the US and other Western states, launched a devastating war on Yemen in March 2015.
The objective was to crush the popular Ansarullah resistance movement, which has been running state affairs in Yemen, and reinstall the Riyadh-friendly regime of Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.
The Saudi-led coalition has failed to achieve any of its objectives. Hundreds of thousands of Yemenis have been killed. Yemen is witnessing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis now.
