The Islamic Jihad says Gaza’s resistance movements have not agreed to lay down their arms, as US President Donald Trump threatens to seize their weapons by force.
The Gaza Strip-based Palestinian resistance movement’s Deputy Secretary-General, Mohammad al-Hindi made the remarks to the Al Jazeera television network on Tuesday.
"The resistance factions did not agree to disarmament, and we do not accept the threat of disarming them by force," he said.
Also on Tuesday, though, Trump said during remarks made at the White House that Gaza’s resistance fighters “will disarm.” “And if they don't disarm, we will disarm them — and it'll happen quickly and, perhaps, violently, but they WILL disarm," he added.
Hindi clarified that there were no secret clauses in the deal reached on October 9 during indirect talks with the Israeli regime based on Trump’s proposal, adding that the claims circulated by the Israeli occupation were “mere rumors with no basis in fact.”
As part of the agreement, which was concluded in Egypt, Hamas only agreed to release the Israeli captives remaining in the Gaza Strip and hand over the coastal sliver’s rule to a Palestinian body.
Trump, who has devised the 20-point proposal, says it is aimed at ending the regime’s two-year-plus war of genocide on the coastal sliver.
Hamas has handed over 20 remaining living captives and has also reportedly transferred the bodies of four deceased ones to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Nevertheless, there have been multiple instances of deadly violation by the regime, which led to the deaths and injury of at least 10 Palestinians on Tuesday alone.
According to Hindi, attempts by the occupation to obstruct the implementation of the agreement were expected.
He, however, stressed that the resistance factions were closely monitoring the implementation of the agreement to ensure the rights of the Palestinian people are upheld.
Israel launched the genocide in October 2023 following a historic resistance operation that led to ensnarement of hundreds of Zionists.
Throughout its course, the onslaught has claimed the lives of at least 67,913 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
