Tehran: A spokesperson for Qatar’s foreign ministry says Doha is in contact with both Iran and the United States and supports all forms of dialogue aimed at reducing regional tensions, underscoring the Arab country’s continued role in diplomatic mediation.
Majed Al-Ansari said on Tuesday there was room for diplomatic and political solutions and that Doha was not imposing any time limits on dialogue or mediation efforts.
On the issue of Gaza, the spokesperson said efforts to halt the war faced complexities that required sustained engagement, adding that Qatar was continuing to mediate to reopen the Rafah crossing and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, with contacts ongoing.
Qatar has also called for humanitarian assistance not to be used as a tool for political pressure, Al-Ansari said.
Qatar was working alongside other mediators to help secure progress toward the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, the official added.
