Delhi Police have intensified their action against illegal infiltrators, detaining 20 Bangladeshi nationals from the national capital in the first month of the year, officials said.
The operation was carried out by the South East District Police, under which 20 Bangladeshi citizens were apprehended. Those detained include 12 men, eight women and four children.
According to police sources, all the detainees were living illegally in Delhi using false identities. They have been sent to a detention centre and will be deported to Bangladesh in due course.
Police have also launched a search for agents who allegedly facilitated the entry and settlement of the illegal immigrants in the capital.
Officials said further investigations are underway to identify networks involved in providing forged documents and shelter to illegal infiltrators.
