Jodhpur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday asserted that large-scale community gatherings strengthen the nation rather than divide it, highlighting the role of self-reliant communities in building a self-reliant India.
Addressing the Maheshwari Global Convention & Expo in Jodhpur, Shah said strong community structures contribute to national unity, and if each community looks after the welfare of its most vulnerable members, the entire country benefits.
“Some so-called progressive people criticise community gatherings, but these events actually strengthen India. If every community becomes self-reliant, then the whole of India will become self-reliant,” he said.
Shah praised the Maheshwari community for its contributions across industries, wealth creation, technology, and manufacturing, noting that despite reaching the highest positions, the community remains connected to its roots. He recalled the celebration of 75 years of India’s independence, emphasizing its four objectives: educating the youth on the freedom struggle, highlighting national achievements, strengthening the sense of Indian identity, and preparing the nation to be a global leader by 2047, as pledged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The Maheshwari community has always demonstrated a progressive outlook in every field, and such examples of community strength reflect the path toward a self-reliant India,” Shah added.
