Senior Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan has parted ways with his dream project, the Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust.
Khan, his wife Dr. Tanzeen Fatima, and his younger son Abdullah Azam have resigned from all positions with the trust.
Azam’s sister Nikhat Aflaq will be the new chairperson of the trust, while Azam’s eldest son, Mohammad Adeeb Azam, has been appointed secretary.
SP MLA Naseer Ahmed Khan has been appointed joint secretary, Mushtaq Ahmed Siddiqui vice president, and Javed ur Rehman Khan treasurer.
Mohammad Ali Jauhar University Registrar Dr. SN Salam said the changes to the trust were made to ensure its smooth functioning.
The Maluna Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust, the dream project of senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, was launched during the previous SP regime, under which Jauhar University was established in Rampur.
This trust operates Jauhar University and Rampur Public School. Azam Khan was previously its president, his wife Tanzeen the secretary, and both sons members.
The university registrar said, “The decision followed disruptions in project work after several trustees were jailed. The administration is taking action on the trust’s properties and leases.”
