Tehran: The head of interests section of Iran in Egypt, Mojtaba Ferdowsipour, has emphasized that the negotiations between Iran and the United States in Oman on February 6 will focus solely on the nuclear issue.
In an interview with the Saudi media outlet Al-Hadath on Friday, Ferdowsipour said, “It has been repeatedly announced by Iran, the Foreign Minister, and the Supreme National Security Council that the only case on the table during Friday’s negotiations [Between Iran and the United States] is the nuclear dossier.”
He added, “At this stage, the foundation is the outcome that results from these negotiations.”
“Of course, during the nuclear negotiations, discussions may take place on various topics and proposals,” Ferdowsipour noted.
As announced by the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, the new round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States will take place this morning in Muscat.
This round of nuclear talks is taking place amidst the US military buildup in the region and threats and claims made against Iran, which threaten regional security.
The Islamic Republic of Iran sits at the negotiating table with the US while bearing in mind the bitter experience of five previous rounds of negotiations with Washington, which were ultimately halted by the military attack of the Israeli regime and the United States on Iran's nuclear facilities. Therefore, the issue of trust remains Iran's most significant challenge in this round of talks.
