Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday said Operation Sindoor is still underway, noting that there is currently a temporary cessation of hostilities while the armed forces remain operationally alert and prepared for any future escalation.
Reviewing the passing-out parade of the 150th course at NDA, Khadakwasla, General Dwivedi said, the Indian Army, along with the Air Force and Navy, is actively preparing for potential future contingencies, including what he referred to as “Operation Sindoor 2.0," should the situation demand it. He emphasized that the focus at present is on strengthening tri-service synergy, improving combat readiness, and adapting to the demands of future warfare.
He highlighted the increasingly transparent nature of modern battlefields, stating that surveillance and intelligence capabilities now make most movements visible to adversaries in real time. “24×7, the battlefield is so transparent that every movement is known to the other side," he said, underscoring the need for heightened caution in deployment, operational planning, and the protection of both troops and civilians in border regions.
The Army Chief also stressed the growing importance of information warfare in contemporary conflicts. According to him, national unity and trust in credible information sources are critical determinants of success.
“Information warfare is only successful if the whole of nation gets together and trusts the people who are giving the information," he said, adding that cohesive trust among stakeholders strengthens national resilience and effectiveness in conflict situations.
