Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday hit out at the Centre over the crackdown on students protesting against the alleged NEET paper leak, accusing the government of imposing sweeping restrictions while failing to prevent examination paper leaks.
His remarks came amid escalating political tensions over the nationwide protests called by the Congress-backed CJP and the government's handling of alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.
In a post on X, Rahul wrote: "Shut the Metro. Shut the roads. Shut the shops. Shut the internet. Shut the food. These cruel steps were taken against students demanding their rights. But there is one thing you could not shut down, Modi ji — paper leaks."
The Congress has been targeting the BJP-led Centre over its response to the alleged NEET paper leak and other examination-related irregularities, with the issue triggering protests by students and opposition parties across the country.
