The Delhi Police will register an FIR in connection with pellet injuries suffered by a youth during the July 20 protest at Jantar Mantar, an official source said on Friday.
The move comes after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi staged a dharna at the Parliament Street police station, demanding registration of the FIR in connection with pellet injuries suffered by 19-year-old Sahil Lochab during the CJP-led protest.
"We will be registering an FIR in the matter," the source said.
As per source police are lodging FIR, but victim is yet to receive the copy.
Rahul visited the police station to support the victim, Sahil Lochab, in his demand to register an FIR into the pellet gun firing issue.
After his demand was not accepted, he went to the Parliament Street police station and met Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Sachin Sharma before staging a sit-in.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other senior party leaders also joined the dharna.
Lochab suffered pellet injuries to the eyes and abdomen during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) led protest against the NEET paper leak and alleged examination irregularities, and later underwent surgery at the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
Rahul and the Congress party have been attacking the Centre, accusing it of using excessive police force to silence the voice of students while they peacefully protested against paper leaks at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
