South superstar Thalapathy Vijay recently hosted a grand Iftar party where he was seen wearing a skull cap and participating in Namaz alongside attendees. Vijay hosted the iftar party during the holy month of Ramzan in Chennai on March 7. The actor-turned-politician donned a skull cap and joined the evening prayers as attendees ended their fast for the day.
Images and videos of Vijay have taken the internet by storm. The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder and chief was dressed in an all-white ensemble, complemented by a skull cap, as he joined his Muslim brothers in the iftar rituals.
According to reports, Vijay observed a full day of fasting and performed prayers in accordance with Islamic traditions before taking part in the iftar rituals. He also hosted a grand feast for thousands of locals.
The Iftar gathering, hosted by Vijay’s party at the YMCA grounds in Royapettah, Chennai, was a grand affair. Imams from 15 local mosques were invited to lead the prayers, while arrangements were made to accommodate nearly 3,000 attendees.
Meanwhile, Thalapathy Vijay is gearing up for his grand farewell to the big screen with Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth. Amid this, the Tamil actor and politician has been provided with a ‘Y’ scale security cover which comprises an 8-person entourage. Two of them would be commandos while the remaining people are police. This security blanket is made only in Tamil Nadu, reports suggest.
Reports suggest that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has assigned Thalapathy Vijay a heightened security detail, including round-the-clock protection from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and a Personal Security Officer (PSO), along with armed personnel stationed at his Tamil Nadu residence. This development follows intelligence assessments that prompted the government to enhance his security measure.
Vijay, who launched his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) last year, is reportedly ramping up his political activities ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections. Buzz suggests that he is planning a statewide roadshow later this year.
