Yemenis have resumed their nationwide protests in support of the Palestinians, subjected to Israel’s campaign of genocide in Gaza.
On Friday, Yemeni people took to the streets of the capital Sana’a and other cities, including Sa’ada, Bayda, Hajjah, and Dhale.
The United States have intensified its strikes on Yemen in an attempt to stop its pro-Gaza retaliatory operations.
Raising Palestinian and Yemeni flags, demonstrators chanted slogans slamming the crimes of Israel in Gaza and the US aggression on Yemen.
“Our rightful stance honors us, and we will strike whoever targets us.”
“Oh Gaza, oh Palestine, we are with you until the Day of Judgment,” they chanted.
The protest organizers issued a statement under the title, “Jihad, steadfastness and heroism... We will not abandon Gaza.”
The statement said the US aggression will fail to make the Yemeni people back down, but rather will increase their determination to support Palestine.
“In Gaza, you couldn’t recover a single captive and you haven’t eliminated the resistance. And in Yemen, you haven’t allowed a single ship to pass, and you haven’t stopped our operations,” the statement included, referring to the US-Israeli scheme against the Palestinians.
The protesters also urged the Arab and Muslim nations to break their silence and take serious action in support of Gaza.
Since the onset of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, Yemeni forces have carried out scores of operations in support of the war-hit Gazans, striking targets throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to targeting Israeli ships or vessels heading towards ports in the occupied territories.
In support of Israel, the US announced the formation of maritime task force in the Red Sea in December 2023 to protect the passage of vessels bound for the Israeli-occupied territories.
The Yemeni forces responded by ramping up their strikes against strategic and sensitive Israeli and American targets, including the US warships and aircraft carriers that are deployed off Yemen’s coastline.
The Yemeni forces paused their retaliatory strikes in support of the ceasefire that took effect in Gaza on January 19, before Israel broke it in March.
