Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday called for an urgent video conference with chief ministers, chief secretaries, and DGPs of states sharing borders with Pakistan and Nepal.
The move comes in the wake of Indian armed forces carrying out strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
Sources said the meeting is to be attended by officials from Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim, and West Bengal, along with the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
Shah also directed chiefs of all Central Armed Police Forces to immediately call back personnel currently on leave. The home minister reviewed the internal security situation and instructed top security officials to stay on high alert and intensify vigilance.
Shah said ‘Operation Sindoor’ was Bharat’s response to the brutal killings in Pahalgam. He asserted that the Modi government is committed to giving a befitting reply to any attack on India and remains resolute in eliminating terrorism from its roots.
"Proud of our armed forces. #OperationSindoor is Bharat's response to the brutal killing of our innocent brothers in Pahalgam. The Modi government is resolved to give a befitting response to any attack on India and its people. Bharat remains firmly committed to eradicating terrorism from its roots," the Home Minister tweeted earlier in the day.
