Moscow: Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov says the Iranian Parliament’s decision to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A.) is understandable, especially given the organization’s inaction over U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
At a briefing with reporters on Wednesday, Peskov said, “Of course, such a decision is a direct consequence of the unprovoked attack that took place - a direct consequence of strikes on nuclear facilities, which were unprecedented.”
He emphasized that the I.A.E.A.’s inaction in response to the U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities has seriously undermined the agency’s credibility.
Earlier today, Iranian lawmakers reviewed the general outlines of a bill mandating the administration to suspend cooperation with the I.A.E.A. The bill was approved with 221 votes in favor, no opposing votes, and one abstention, out of the 223 representatives present.
