US envoy Sergio Gor, NSA Ajit Doval hold talks on key geopolitical issues

US ambassador to India Sergio Gor on March 18 held a meeting with national security advisor Ajit Doval and discussed critical security and geopolitical issues amid escalating tensions in West Asia.
“Just wrapped up an extremely fruitful meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Covered critical security & geopolitical issues. Strategic cooperation between the United States and India continues to advance,” Gor said in a post on X.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran, which has rattled global markets, pushed up crude oil prices, and heightened concerns around inflation and economic growth.
The meeting also holds significant as it comes in the backdrop of India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) uncovering a network in which US national Matthew Aaron VanDyke, along with six Ukrainians, allegedly trained Myanmar rebels using a route through India.
Last week, Gor had said that the US and India are nearing the conclusion of a key critical minerals pact, with a major announcement likely in the coming months. He noted that recent months have seen a “remarkable series of breakthroughs” in bilateral ties, including progress on a new trade agreement.
