Tamil Nadu’s political scene is witnessing sudden striking shift as early Assembly trends show strong rise of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The party linked with actor-politician Vijay is not just performing well in numbers, but also reshaping conversations about future alliances and leadership in the state. Amid this unfolding picture, Vijay’s father SA Chandrasekhar has stepped into the spotlight with a direct appeal to the Congress party, urging it to rethink its position and consider joining hands with TVK.
TVK takes early lead in Assembly trends
The counting trends have placed TVK in a powerful position across Tamil Nadu. Out of 234 Assembly seats, the party is currently leading in 110 seats. This performance has quickly made TVK one of the most talked-about forces in the election outcome.
The numbers have not only surprised many observers but have also started to shift the tone of post-election discussions.
Chandrasekhar urges Congress to rethink its path
In the middle of these developments, SA Chandrasekhar made a strong and clear appeal to the Congress party. He questioned the party’s current condition and linked its decline to a lack of political power.
“Congress has a history and tradition. Such a Congress, why is it diminishing? Due to lack of power,” he said.
He further suggested that repeated dependence on alliances has weakened Congress over time. According to him, this pattern has contributed to its decline.
In a bold pitch, he added that Vijay and TVK are ready to offer political strength to the Congress if it chooses to align with them.
On Vijay’s long journey from thought to politics
Chandrasekhar also spoke at length about Vijay’s transition into politics, describing it as a long and thoughtful process rather than a sudden decision. He said Vijay had been carrying the idea of social contribution for nearly three decades.
“For the last 30 years, he has been thinking that he must do something for society and for the Tamil people. It was always in his mind, and slowly it has taken shape,” he said.
With TVK performing strongly in the trends, Chandrasekhar expressed confidence about Vijay’s future role in Tamil Nadu politics. He went as far as projecting him as a future Chief Minister of the state, based on the current momentum.
“Today, he is going to be the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,” he said.
