Poem by Namayah Hussain From Pakistan
I am sure you have heard about bringing a revolution from your own yard
However, has anyone ever told you of the kind you bring from an exile
Let’s speak today of what it takes to bring the latter in a country so scarred
Where chaadors were snatched and the men of God put in jail meanwhile
It took a man from Khomein to do all of that in the hardest of times
For which any offering of gratitude would be a severe undermining of this kind
Lands of Iraq and France are a testament to the fight he upheld
Where his letters and speeches were sharper than any sword’s edge
He changed every idea of how the world map was viewed
Stripping the hands of imperialists so honor could be restored
The Shia across the world felt the impact of these moves
When before they existed whereas now they truly lived
Iran was transformed into the land preparing for Mahdi’s advent
His ideas fortifying Persia into the glory of its former time
Colonialism all across was kicked out in the year of ’79
The welcome back home was of the grandest type
He honed the children of Ramadan for economy’s growth
But also prepared children of Ashura for the fight
The vision he held could not be fathomed by enemy
Yet he was a father figure to the nation of so many
The martyrs were always close to his heart
Lives given up for the cause ranked in the highest of paths
He gave up his son in this very righteous way
Shedding not even a tear on that sad day
He overthrew an empire with a nation they called of tears
Ashura and Karbala were his very foremost of inspirations
Empowered the women in their freedom and rights
Where once the hijabis could not even step outside
This all tells us of the politics and his strength outside
We, however, forget his character apart from the public eye
Being an affectionate father was his very prized trait
Passing on that love to all his grandchildren to date
As a husband from the first day he was devoted to his wife
Khanom’s comfort and ease were always in his mind
Love was showered by him on everyone that came
A true leader who owned the children of the state
Piety of his was a different league and knew no bounds
When even in a hospital bed his prayers were paramount
Every night in Najaf he would visit the first Imam
With such punctuality that intelligence could even match their watch
An American attack plane crashed in the middle of a night
The secret they didn’t know was he woke up to recite a prayer at midnight
Tales of his are innumerable and the lines are quite few
Watch his funeral if you doubt what were the people’s view
Resistance that you see today is a gift from him
Independence from the west also he did give
So today take a moment and say a prayer of love
For Ruhollah Khomeini; the Inqilab e Islami pioneer
