The secretary-general of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has praised Iran’s resilience during the recent Israeli-American war of aggression, noting that the Islamic Republic emerged stronger from it.
In a televised speech on Thursday evening marking the commencement of the Islamic month of Muharram, Sheikh Naim Qassem said the primary objective of Israel and the US is to undermine any independent force that supports resistance and strives for the liberation of Palestine.
“Iran's greatest sin in the eyes of the US and the Zionist regime is its support for Palestine, al-Quds, as well as Palestinians who are striving to reclaim their [occupied] lands,” he said.
Sheikh Naim Qassem said the Israeli war of aggression against Iran was just another step in the regime’s broader campaign of expansionism.
The Hezbollah leader stated that Iran has emerged stronger after the war and has proven its ability to confront the tyranny of the US, the Israeli regime, and a significant proportion of European countries, without compromising its principles or retreating from its values.
Tehran “has firmly established its regional and international standing through its convictions and choices, never conceding an inch,” the Hezbollah chief asserted.
Israel, he added, has yet again shown it cannot last a day without US support, whilst Iran has proven it can stand firm against arrogant global powers.
Sheikh Qassem noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has thwarted the three main objectives of aggressors: halting uranium enrichment, destroying its missile program, and enacting a regime change.
Iran “faced an Israeli-American aggression rooted in falsehood and built entirely upon groundless claims”, he stated.
The Hezbollah leader underlined that the Lebanese resistance movement fully supports Iran's sovereign decision to confront American occupation and hegemony.
“Surrender to foreign demands is not an option. We are determined to preserve Lebanon's dignity for future generations, and will continue our resistance regardless of how hefty the price might be,” he said.
Israel launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran on June 13, attacking its nuclear, military and residential sites, which resulted in the martyrdom of several military commanders, nuclear scientists and ordinary citizens.
The Iranian armed forces responded with 22 waves of missile strikes as part of Operation True Promise III, which targeted many strategic sites across the Israeli-occupied territories.
