Tehran: Senior Hamas official Fawzi Barhoum has praised the Islamic Republic of Iran, Yemen’s Ansarullah, and Lebanon’s Hezbollah for their positions in support of the Palestinian people.
Speaking on the second anniversary of Al-Aqsa Storm Operation on Tuesday, Barhoum said it brought back the Palestinian cause “to its global position and placed the occupation in unprecedented isolation,” and renewed the pledge to “uphold all the inalienable national rights of the people and their aspirations for liberation, reform, and independence,” according to Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen news network.
He called on Palestinian factions to unite in their approach to resistance, stressing, “Resistance to the occupation is a fundamental and established right of our people, and the establishment of a fully sovereign Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital is now within reach.”
Referring to the conclusion of the first round of indirect talks between Hamas and the Zionist regime in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, he said, “The Hamas negotiating delegation in Cairo is striving to remove all obstacles in the path of reaching an agreement that fulfills the demands of the Palestinian people. We are seeking an agreement that guarantees a ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of the occupying army from Gaza, and the entry of humanitarian aid.”
He emphasized, “We warn against Netanyahu’s efforts to obstruct and thwart the current round of negotiations, as he has done before. We are confident in our people’s ability to thwart all plots aimed at eliminating the Palestinian cause.”
Barhoum reiterated the success of Al-Aqsa Storm Operation in advancing the Palestinian cause, while stressing the movement’s priorities in any ceasefire agreement.
