Iran police is ready to share its expertise in various fields with Iraq, Iran Police Chief said.
'Iran police is quite ready to share its experience and expertise in various fields, with the Iraqi police force, including confronting organized crimes,' Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari told visiting Iraqi Interior Minister Qasim al-Araji on Sunday.
'Today, Iraq, as Iran's friendly neighbor, faces challenges created by the United States,' General Ashtari said, adding that the Islamic Republic also faces similar challenges imposed against the country.
The Iranian police said that the Islamic Republic is eager to use Iraq's experiences in fighting terrorism.
'There are a lot of commonalities between police forces in the two countries and ties should be strengthened,' Ashtari said.
'Iraqi people and government have proved that they can stand on their own feet and resist,' he added.
Referring to the US threats and pressures on Iran, including imposition of sanctions, he said that, Iranian people, despite all difficulties, could handle them successfully.
General Ashtari went on to praise resistance of the Iraqi government and people against terrorist groups and congratulated liberation of the Iraqi cities and town from the Takfiri groups.
Iraqi forces retook the control of Mosul from terrorist group Daesh (ISIS) in late July. The city once the second major city of Iraq, and a former terrorist stronghold, fell under control of Daesh in June 2014.
Stressing the historical and cultural commonalities between the two neighboring countries, Ashtari said that the holy shrines of Shia Muslims in Iraq have made vital the issue of security in the country.
'The Islamic Republic considers Iraq's security as its own security,' he said.
