Vienna - High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini reiterated the need for continuing full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) by all the parties including the US.
In a news conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Brussels on Tuesday, she added, “After the implementation of the deal, our commercial exchanges with Iran have increased and this trend will continue.”
Noting that the European Union is united in defending JCPOA, she said that Europe has security interests in full implementation of the deal and interaction with Iran. Not to mention that economic interests are also conceivable.
“We will guarantee that interaction with Iran will continue and all sections of the JCPOA including those pertaining to lifting sanctions will be fully implemented by the involved parties,” she said.
“We know that the US is reviewing its policies and we respect it, but JCPOA does not belong to a single country; rather it belongs to the international community and has been endorsed by the UN Security Council,” he said.
During her meeting with Lavrov, Mogherini also discussed a range of issues including Syrian situation.
