The London mayor said on Monday during a ceremony held in memory of the victims of the London Saturday’s terrorist attacks that deviant ideology of the attackers has nothing to do with the Islamic values whatsoever.
During a vigil in British capital attended by Home Secretary Amber Rudd as well as other political figures, Sadiq Khan said “And as a proud and patriotic British Muslim, I say this: You do not commit these disgusting acts in my name.”
Khan added, 'Your perverse, disgusting ideology has nothing to do with the true values of Islam. And you will never succeed in dividing our city'.
'Today we mourn the loss of innocent lives, Londoners and people from around the world. We send our love to the victims' families and to all those who are injured,' Khan said.
Thanking the “courageous emergency services and the brave Londoners who risked their lives to care for others”, he told them “You are the best of us.”
Seven people were killed and 48 injured in an attack on London Bridge and in Borough Market last night. A vehicle was driven into pedestrians before three attackers launched a knife attack, before they were shot dead by armed police.
British Police on Monday named two of the attackers: Khuram Shazad Butt, 27, and Rachid Redouane, 30.
The police also said that they were trying to identify the third attacker.
