Damascus, March 5 – Syrian President Bashar Assad said on Sunday that permanent coordination between Syria and friendly countries is essential under current sensitive situation in the region.
In a meeting with a senior advisor to Iranian foreign minister for political affairs, Hossein Jaberi-Ansari, he said that the Syrian nation is the sole decision maker on its country’s future and the decision will never be made by any other person.
Turkey’s current aggression against Afrin is another reason for continuation of its antagonistic policies vis-à-vis Syria, he said.
Turkey’s aggression once again proved that reliance on Turkish policies and statesmen is impossible, the Syrian president said.
Jaberi-Ansari, for his part, said that Islamic Republic is keen on coordination and consultation with Syria in all fields.
“Any Iran's help in finding a diplomatic solution to the Syrian crisis is with the approval of Damascus leaders,” he said, noting that Syria and its nation have special status before the Iranian government and nation.
Both officials also stressed the significance of UN Envoy De Mistura’s adherence to his role as facilitators of dialogues.
Consequences of Turkey’s aggression on Afrin and the country’s stances vis-à-vis Syria were among the other topics discussed during the meeting.
