Iran's ambassador the United Nations says the core of Middle East problems is the Zionist regime whose aggressive and expansionist policies have worsened the situation.
Speaking at a Security Council session on Palestine and Middle East on Thursday, Eshaq Al Habib also lashed out at the US for recognizing Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime.
Washington's destructive role in international disputes particularly in the Middle East is undeniable, Al Habib said, adding that the United States has never been an honest partner for peace and justice in the issue of Palestine.
Referring to the backgrounds of the Zionist regime, he said every time the regime's policy of expanding its settlements is condemned as illegal by the UN, the Israeli regime continues denying the Palestinians their rights and strengthening its occupation.
The building of more settlements by the Zionist regime not only is a breach of the 4th Geneva Convention but is also a war crime indicating that the regime has never been interested in peace, the Iranian ambassador and deputy permanent representative to the United Nations said.
Moreover, Al Habib said, Israel has always ignored all international systems governing weapons of mass destruction, openly opposing NPT and the convention on biological and chemical weapons.
It is unfortunate that the UNSC has failed to solve important issues such as permanent occupation of Palestine or bombardment of Yemen over the past three years which brought hunger, illness and destruction to the Yemeni people including the world's worst ever famine over the past few decades, he said.
Referring to the attempts of the US and Zionist regime to change the main problems of the Middle East, Al Habib said the two are also after spreading Iranophobia in the region and this has turned into a psychological and neurological complex for them.
Recalling Iran's endeavors in the fight against Daesh, Al Habib said Iranophobia is propagated by these countries which were busy supplying Daesh with weapons at a time when Iran was fighting this terrorist group in Iraq and Syria.
The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations once again voiced Iran's support for the Palestinian people and their right to decide their own fate and establish a sovereign Palestinian country with Quds al-Sharif as its capital.
