Supreme Leader's Senior Advisor Ali Akbar Velayati blasted the recent decision by US President Donald Trump to relocated Washington's embassy from Tel Aviv to the Holy Quds (Jerusalem), and said that Muslims will not tolerate another Balfour declaration.
'Given the current circumstances, the Islamic countries and Muslims will not tolerate Balfour-II Declaration,' Velayati said in an interview with the Arabic-language al-Alam television network said.
'They should know that they are wrongly assessing the situation and at that time in 1917 when former British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour declared Balfour Declaration to give the Palestinian territories to the Zionists; Muslims were under pressure at that time, the Ottomans had been defeated and there was no possibility to confront such plot,' he added.
The Balfour Declaration was a public statement issued by the British government during World War I as a result of which the British government announced support for the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine in 1917, then an Ottoman region with a minority Jewish population.
