Senior adviser to the Iranian Parliament Speaker for international affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian underlined Iran and Russia's common stances on regional issues and said this is an opportunity for resolution of crisis in the region.
He made the remarks in a meeting with the Russian State Duma Deputy Gennady Sklyar, who heads the Parliamentary Friendship Group of Iran and Russia on Monday evening.
Amir Abdollahian, a former deputy foreign minister, pointed to constructive talks between Tehran and Moscow on regional issues and said, Russia should reinforce its role in the regional developments.
The official highlighted Iran and Russia effective cooperation in case of Syria crisis and said, Tehran and Moscow should use the opportunity for resolution of other crises in the region.
Iran and Russia relations are growing due to strong commitment by two countries’ leaders for boosting bilateral ties, he said, noting that Iran’s parliament is ready the help elevation of all-out ties between Tehran and Moscow.
During the meeting, the Russian head of Parliamentary Friendship Group of Iran and Russia said, Moscow is prepared to enhance cooperation with Iran.
Russia welcomes promotion of cooperation with Iran in energy, finance and public sectors, he noted.
Sklyar called for cooperation between the energy commissions of Iranian parliament and the Russian State Duma.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to US senate sanctions against Iran and said embargos have resulted in the elevation of Tehran and Moscow cooperation.
Russian State Duma has approved a bill that protect Iran and Russia joint investments, the official added.
