Senior Iraqi religious authority Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sistani condemned Trump's anti-Palestinian decision to relocate US embassy to al-Quds.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the senior religious authority condemned the decision and called for unity in word and consolidated efforts of the Islamic Ummah to return al-Quds to the Palestinians.
Quoting a responsible source in the Ayatollah Sistani's office, the statement said the decision will hurt emotions of hundreds of million Arab and Muslims and is doomed to failure.
It underlined that Trump's decision is not decreasing the reality that al-Quds is an occupied territory and must be returned to its real owners, Palestinians.
Controversial US President Donald Trump's recognition of the Holy al-Quds as the capital of Israel met fierce condemnations from around the world, as many top brass political figures and international organizations warned about repercussions of the decision in the region and world.
