Recent unrests in a few Iranian cities were plots hatched by the US and Zionists, a senior cleric said in the second sermon of Friday prayers.
'Such riots are the US and Zionist' plots' which are executed by the terrorist Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) and financed by Saudi Arabia,' Tehran's Interim Friday Prayer Leader Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi said.
He cautioned people and officials about the enemies' conspiracies and said that the recent riots were the result of months of US centers' focus on Iran issues.
Enemies cannot tolerate any country's independence, he added elaborating the reasons for the US and its allies' hostilities towards the Iranian nation.
After some Iranians took to the streets to protest against unemployment and high prices last week, the protests turned violent in some cases due to the provocation of certain foreign states.
Certain elements penetrated the lines of protestors to drive the peaceful protests towards violence. The US president has overtly supported the rioters in several tweets.
