TEHRAN – The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, called on the Palestinian youths to confront the Zionist regime of Israel and prevent further desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque by the occupying regime.
In a statement on Sunday, Hamas called on Palestinians to intensify protests in response to the Israeli crimes against the people and Al-Aqsa Mosque, according to the Palestinian Information Center.
It also highlighted the danger of the Zionist occupation of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which hurts the feelings of Muslims and Palestinians.
Hamas stressed the need for an urgent action regarding the Israeli acts of aggression on the mosque and crackdown on Muslim worshipers visiting the holy place.
The group further called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to take serious steps to decry the Israeli crimes and violations of human rights in al-Quds in international circles.
The Israeli regime on Friday shut down al-Aqsa Mosque after a deadly shooting at the holy mosque’s compound in the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds.
The gunfight took place just outside the Haram al-Sharif (Temple Mount) and left three Palestinians and two Israeli police officers dead.
Following the incident, the Israeli police closed the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, briefly detained Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, the grand mufti of Jerusalem al-Quds, and canceled Muslim Friday prayers at the site.
