President Hassan Rouhani said the United States, which has failed to fulfill its obligations, cannot claim to be a promoter of human rights, rule of law, stability and security in the world.
Speaking during a weekly cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Rouhani pointed to the US misconduct of its international obligations, and said “the glory and political position of any country in the world is based on the trust and the respect others may have towards it due to its commitments."
Noting that the Americans undermine many of their commitments in the new era, Rouhani added they violated Paris Agreement, commitment to Cuba, and many other contracts they signed with North America, as well as part of their commitments to East Asia; this indicates that the United States cannot promote human rights, rule of law, stability and security in the world.
The presence of Americans in the region has led to escalation of conflicts and clashes, Rouhani said, adding that they could not take any action against the terrorists and bring stability to the region, but the Iraqi and Syrian people, and the neighboring countries and 'warriors' who are devoted to the oppressed people are the ones who saved the region from terrorism.
Rouhani underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been adherent to its obligations. “Today one of the US plots is to accuse Iran of breaching promises; this is the recent conspiracy that the US has designed, and in my opinion, it will never be successful.”
Rouhani said the people of Iran, with the guidance and support of the Leader, have done a great job in the case of JCPOA and managed to achieve a great, unparalleled and even unique international and multilateral agreement in Iran’s political history and defended their absolute right against the great powers of the world.
“Iranian people succeeded in abolishing UN Security Council’s cruel resolutions and the decisions of the Board of Governors; they resolved PMD issue, limited the arms sanctions and removed the sanctions against the missile program,” he noted.
