The Yemeni army backed by Popular Committees fired three homegrown ballistic missiles dubbed “Zelzal-2” at the positions of mercenaries of the Saudi-led coalition northeast of the capital, Sana’a.
The missile command of the Yemeni army announced that it has targeted and hit the gatherings of Saudi mercenaries in Nihm District in Sana'a Province with the three Zelzal-2 missiles, the Arabic-language al-Ahed news website reported.
In another operation, the Yemeni forces pounded the positions of the Saudi military in the kingdom’s southwestern provinces of Najran and Jizan, killing a number of the Saudi servicemen, according to the report.
A spy drone belonging to the Riyadh-led coalition were also shot down by Yemeni air defense forces in the southwestern province of Taiz.
The attacks by the Yemeni forces were carried out in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.
Since March 25, 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to Yemen’s resigned president.
According to Yemen’s Legal Center of Rights and Development, the Saudi campaign has claimed the lives of over 12,000 Yemenis and left more than 20,000 others wounded.
